Champ Select Lag

idk why this has been happening alot lately but everytime im in champion select when i either try to bann or lock in a champion i end up lagging to the point where the countdown is on 0 for 5 minutes and then i get a message saying that there was a server issue and riot has been notified. But when this happens it counts as a dodge -.- find it really annoying and frustrating, any help?
