137 Ping in my games

I usually have a consistent 30-40 ping but today me and a lot of my verizon user friends have exactly 137 ping and we are all in northern VA. Is this a server issue?

Seems like this is a rampant issue today...

ive noticed that with my internet i have charter spectrum, my ping on wifi would never spike last year it was fine this year i would have pingspikes i would run scans during and after the game have no packet loss no jitter 64-68 mb down and 5-6 mb up on 5Ghz AC wifi but it would only be affected with bad pings to the riot servers during a certain time of day around 5pm-3am i would experience ping spikes when my connection monitor would not notice them.. so i researched all day and all night did tests and found out its only with riot game server any other game during those times so i figured maybe netnuetrality thing possibly idk so i ran a test with the hextech thing nothing out of the ordinary so my solution was hard wiring which sucks, i bought a 200$ wifi adapter and a 400$ nighthawk router so i wouldnt have to, but i still notice higher pings during those times i get about 70-80 during them but anyother i get around 60 but it doesnt affect my gameplay so im happy being wired i still dont know what the problem is though with wifi and i have to hope my landlord doesnt get made i have a wire running to my room since im in charge of the internet and bought expensive equipment and fix all the other tenants internet he allows me to... for now at least.

so im not sure if its the same problem you guys are having but if a hardwire doesnt fix it it definitely isnt the same problem.

theres some solutions if you cant hardwire though to get the same affect as it. The only problem is you have to buy the hardware, and the hardwares is only as good as what you pay for it when it usually comes to networking, theres powerline adapters that come in 2 pair set up you plug one into your wall next to your router run a cat5e (ethernet cable) or higher cord into it plug the next one into the room you want to have internet run a second ethernet cord to your device it uses electricity of your home to send data from your router or modem to the other plug and runs it to your computer not sure on which ones to buy look into these i recommend not buying the cheapest version again due to thats probably why its cheap, ive read and had others tell me its no difference than a cable from there to that room and some people say its faster but its only as fast as your isp allows it to be in the end if you buy 60mbs download you might get 68 being your highest but you'll usually never see more no matter what you have installed some isps will only give you as much as 60 because so you may never see more than that.

also having an access point or bridge may work buying a second router and putting it in access point mode halfway from your router and your device (preferably in line of sight from AP to router) you can run a ethernet cord or wifi signal from router#2 to device and get better speeds than you previously had with less jitter and packetloss does not guarantee anyloss tho but still has a lower chance than wifi i tried this with my device i had no difference in what ever problem i was receiving i still recommend powerline over this or Ethernet.

Hope this help anyone any if not sorry for wasting your time with it :D but good luck lag and spikes can be a pain when it comes to gaming and makes you literally hate being a part of the internet. i think fixing my net to zero lag has improved my performance greatly maybe its your internet holding you back from advancing from your current rank whether that be bronze or plat if you cant perform at your 100% due to net your not at 100% of your rank either ;)

I've noticed a few people all over are having trouble with their ping late in the afternoon. Mine will be normal majority of the day then mess up around 6. Around 11 or 12 that's when my ping is back to normal.
