Fps drops DRASTICALLY to the point where I can't play. Patch 6.6

I own a 2013 Macbook Air and with the years I've played league I've never experienced any problems with my fps at all. Every since this new patch the sound in game sometimes starts to become choppy and almost robotic. This usually starts happening whenever team fights are in action and what's worst is my frames drop so much to the point where I'm unable to play.

Things I've tried:

• Restart laptop
• Re-download game
• Checked my internet connection

I've been reading the boards lately and noticed other Mac users are having the same problem. Riot please help! [slayer-jinx-catface]
