ALT+TABbing out of Game causes game to think the CTRL button is pressed [GAMEPLAY]

This issue appeared in the last few days (just before Patch 5.12 and into the first 2 days of 5.12).

Whenever I ALT+TAB out of a game, and then switch back into the game, most of my abilities won't go off, and when I LEFT CLICK, it brings up the ping options. Also, if I press ESCAPE, the in-game menu does NOT come up.

This bug happened at least twice today (6/25/2015). Once on Alistar and once on Tristana.

  • On Alistar: whenever the bug was in effect, I could use my Q (Pulverize) skill, but not my W (Headbutt). I didn't try my E(Triumphant Roar) or my R (Unbreakable Will)
  • On Tristana: I couldn't use my E (Explosive Charge). I didn't try my other abilities.

The bug goes away whenever I ALT+TAB back out of the game.

PS I played a game against 3 Rioters a few days ago (Riot TofuTarget, Riot Sawraw, and Riot LegendLarry), but I didn't realize until it was too late. I wanted to say "Thank you for all that you do!!"

Are you running the game in borderless window mode or full screen mode? If you're in full screen mode, switch to borderless. Multiplayer games should always prefer borderless if available as it causes the least alt-tab problems.

If this happens again, try tapping each Ctrl and Alt key (both left and right) one at a time. I've found in some other games that this can cancel a "permanently held down key."
