Don't update to OS X Yosemite on a Mac!

PMFeraco·10/17/2014, 1:28:46 AM·11 votes·16,847 views

KogMaw So earlier today I was playing League on my Macbook Pro with Retina Display and I was running OS X Mavericks (Have been doing this since August of 2013) and haven't had any problems. But today after seeing that Apple had released OS X Yosemite I was excited so I obviously downloaded it, took about an hour for everything to be running properly until I played a game of League and my mouse wouldn't move anywhere except for along the top of the screens edge (Only in-game) I not only lost that ranked game but now I won't be playing League until this is either fixed or I am able to downgrade the OS of my Mac. I beg of you Riot look into this A.S.A.P.

Edit: Also using a 2014 Razer Naga with Razer Synapse 2.0

Guys you have to turn off the software mouse option in the settings. If you have already updated you obviously can't do it from ingame, go to the League App, Click "Show Package Contents" > "Contents" > "LOL" > "Config" > Open "game.cfg" and change the setting from "OSXMouseAcceleration=1" to "OSXMouseAcceleration=0"; This will disable the software mouse option and allows the cursor to move correctly again. I just had this happen to me, and found that it has been a bug since the beta version of Yosemite came out, and still has not been fixed.

EDIT: You can use textedit (or any other plain text editor) to edit the file.

I've also encountered a similar problem after upgrading to Yosemite.

I can move my mouse freely, but whenever the cursor moves past the bottom of the screen (actions such as shifting the camera downwards) it resets the cursor into the middle of my screen.

EDIT: Upon further investigation it also appears I cannot ping. Whenever I try to smart ping, the cursor is jammed at the very top. So the only thing I can ping is "Danger!"

I would like to add, Yosemite has messed up Smart Ping as well. any tips for that one?

I cant reach the bottom of the screen after the upgrade. My mouse keeps skipping up to 1/3 of the screenheight as soon as i reach the bottom -.-

I just find as though it would help for people to give me the correct answer if I am more specific with the computer that I use for League.

The only issue I have seen since upgrading to Yosemite is the only ping I can use is a request for assistance. If I try to send any other ping it is not possible.

****I've also found a temporary solution without the need to download an outside program.

Change your Windowed Mode from Fullscreen to Windowed. Then change it back to Fullscreen. This enables you to make downward camera movements and smart pings like before OS X Yosemite. The only downside is that you have to make this change at the start of every single game, this will take around 20 seconds but eliminates the buggy cursor movements for the entire game.

Let me know if this works for you.

I have exactly the same issue, and My Mac ran absolutely fine with Mavertricks, but today after updating to YOSEMITE, my mouse automatically keeps moving along the top of the screens edge and could not move anywhere else (Only in-game).

PLEASE PLEASE , RIOT , DO something about it..... We need help and we need care.....

PolemFornix10/18/2014, 4:28:51 AM1 votes

Not only that, I can't even login. Apparently there's a fix for anyone Windows through InternetExplorer, but for us Mac users...

I just got my client up and running after a month and a half of failed Riot attempts to help my game (my screen would just load black before a game. they couldnt do jack so i got bumped from silver one to silver three, lovely). then 4.18 came along to make me feel better, and now this crap.

Thank you Riot. Smell the sarcasm and rage of a million.

Mine couldn't even load the game. It would load up to 50% but then it would crash every time. I've probably got a warning now from leaver buster. Riot has stated that League is not supported on Yosemite earlier around June/July when Beta's were out but I only found out after installing. Looks like no league for me for until it's fixed ;(

Alright guys! I think I found something that helped temporarily till they fix the game! Change the game.cfg as OUGLOR mentioned worked out. But getting stuck mid screen going to the bottom stayed the same. I download SmoothMouse and the mouse is working perfect now! Once you install you have to "Enable" it with your mouse or trackpad as you wish. That's all I did, and it worked for me. Hope it works for you as well :)

Edit: It helps "to a point". Apparently it's still a little un-easy to move around. Game isn't smooth and makes it hard to move around and use abilities. But the fix is better than nothing :)

Thank goodness I have not updated yet. This is kind of expected though, basically an OSX update - it takes apps and vendors a few weeks to tweak their own program to make it compatible with the new platform. With Rito it will probably take another month if we're lucky....

Moral of the story is: New isn't always better

KogMaw I was able to fix the problem by restoring my computer from a backup of OS X Mavericks from about a week before OS X Yosemite's release.

Having the same issue here. Started immediately after updating to Yosemite. I'll try some of the options mentioned already.

Another thing that worked for me that at least made the game playable was changing the video resolution to the next one down. Some of the menu popups (like the shop) had the bottom cut off, but I was at least able to scroll around.

Related to resolution, I've always had a problem if I change resolution in the video options while in fullscreen mode, my mouse won't go outside the bounds of what the resolution was set at when I started the game. So if I bump the resolution way up, my mouse won't go outside of the area that the old resolution would have been pixel wise. I have to restart the client because I'm not even able to reset the resolution because the OK button is outside of my trackable range and hitting enter brings up chat instead of approving the options screen.

So is this ever going to be fixed or even looked at? Rito, do you realize how frustrating it is to play ranked without being able to ping anything besides "Assist me"?

I've been using the beta for months now, and it's always worked perfectly fine. Still works, after upgrading to the official version. I use trackpad though.

PMFeraco10/17/2014, 7:43:13 PM1 votes

OUGLOR, what application do I use to open the game.cfg file?

EDIT: Nevermind I found a way to open it and now my League works! Thanks a ton for the help! KogMaw

Hey,

I'm on a MacBook Pro 15" mid 2014, retina, 1.5g nvidia card, and I'm having the same issue after upgrading to Yosemite. I can confirm that everything worked fine before I updated OSX.

When the game loads, the mouse sits in the middle of the screen, but as soon as I move the cursor in any direction, it flies to the top of the screen and I cannot move it. I had thought about changing my video settings, but I can't move the mouse to the menu, and I haven't found any combination of keys that allow you to traverse the settings menu from the keyboard...
