I'm currently in a game and the audio bug (where the sound completely goes static and robotic) has happened three times during lanning phase and I started lagging every time the enemy jungler ganked. Where is the fix?

I stumbled across this update on the EUW boards. Looks like there's a promising fix on the PBE. I don't understand why I had to go to a different region to find out about an update on such a huge issue like this though.
