This is a QA problem. The splash art is beautiful. This is not a problem about the how beautifully the artist drew the splash art.
Sure, QA checks for functions like buttons, menus, and stability.
But there is an entire section of the QA test pass that inspects visual elements (At least I hope there is).
Things such as:
- Text should be of the correct size, color, font, alignment. (Inconsistent use of serif / sans serif fonts and font colors all over the client... Fail...)
- Logos, brand images, backgrounds, button text, should follow the same theme.
- Maps, champions, minions, jungle monsters should have a cohesive art style.
- Champions need to thematically maintain their unique brand identity and should not be mistaken as another
None of these are special test cases. This is standard fare for a game whose brand and characters are its biggest asset.
If Apple's QA saw their logo "bite mark" on the left instead of the right, you can be sure it's a serious P1 blocker, no release.
If Microsoft's QA saw their flag was yellow-blue-green-red instead of red-green-blue-yellow, P1 blocker, no release.
If Sanrio's QA saw Hello Kitty's pink was not their exact shade of super cute powder pink, P1 blocker, no release.
If Google Chrome's launch icon could be easily mistaken as Internet Explorer's, P1 blocker, no release.
If Riot's QA saw a LeBlanc artwork that is easily mistaken as Zyra, it should have been a P1 blocker, no release.
Once again, I'm not saying it's ugly, I think it looks great. But even if an artist drew the best splash art ever but it violates your brand identity, it should be a no go.
