Not being able to select a champion in champ select

I was trying to pick a champion until I get a notification of connecting to server when I was trying to select a champion and then I had to wait until I pressed cancel and then I couldnt pick a champion. I could see everyone picking their champions and select runes, masteries, summoner spells, and even the champion search bar but not be able to select their portraits.
