New Client Summoner Name Expiration Bug

I was trying to make a smurf account (shameless I know), but when I tried to put in the summoner name the yes button you click to confirm was broken. According to lolinactive.com the name was available starting about a week ago and I can see that the account hasn't suddenly gotten active. I submitted a ticket for it and the nice Rioter told me that the new client wasn't recognizing expired summoner names and to report the issue here.

What's worse is that when I then tried to log onto the legacy client, the name was taken and I'm not sure if the new client messed this process up for the legacy or if me trying to use the name on the new client broke its availability.

Any chance this will be fixed next patch? Will this be a priority soon? What is the scale of this bug?
