Please Help

Downloaded League and 5.3 update on my Mac Book Air. It runs just fine, it loads great. After character select and countdown finishes and it goes into game loader it doesn't load. Its just a blank black screen. After roughly 30 seconds it gives me a message that says I cannot connect to server, that my firewall may be stopping it. Check firewall Documentation. My firewall is completely off. I really want to play as I'm away from a PC for another 13 days. I see other Mac Users Playing. Please Please Please Help. Mac Book Air Spec's are as follows.

OS X Version 10.9.5 Processor 1.3 GHz Intel Core i5 Memory 4gb 1600 MHz DDR3 13" Mid 2013 Intel Hd Graphics 5000

please help me get this going for my mac, would like to let my buddies use it as well when i get home as an extra computer for league. Thank You in advance for any help.
