"At first I thought it was my laptop but after multiple chats with the ASUS customer service reps I have found that to not be the case."
They dont know anything beyond incredibly basic troubleshooting, and they cant see your computer anyway, so are basically just make reassuring guesses.
"Large amounts of spam" suggests a debug log from the game client, which i have only heard of happening when the graphics drivers are having fits and failing.
If it crashes your computer completely, it is very definitely an issue with the computer, possibly the graphics hardware or drivers, or a faulty power supply.
The worst a faulty program should be able to do is crash itself, unless it intentionally does something to destabilize the system.
I suggest you install the newest drivers for your hardware and ensure that it is functioning as intended, and if it is an old or integrated gpu, lower the graphics settings as much as possible/enable low-spec mode. This may avoid the unsupported or failing feature that causes the crash.
