Syndra Bug??

Was playing Syndra in an ARAM where the enemy team had a Soraka. I cast my W (picking up a minion or sphere), but was silenced by Soraka field. This immediately put the spell on CD. I was still holding the thing I had grabbed, but couldn't throw it.
