Katarina Q glitch

So while I was playing Katarina mid I threw my q at a minion, it died before the q hit so naturally it cancels. but. It stopped and flew down all the way to bot lane and hit the bot minions. It didn't cause anything game changing and it didn't happen again but.. it was very strange.
