Twisted Fate auto attack after death

So dont really know if its a bug or if its suppose to happen but on 2 different games now ive played tf and i have got an auto attack off on someone before i die and while im sitting in my death screen i can see it hit but they take no damage. It cost me two kills on both occasions.
