Yasuo's wind wall blocking melee attacks

I played against a yasuo tonight i was playing Akali. This person would drop wind wall on top of himself and i could not damage him its as if the wall is treating all her abilities as ranged while point blank. This could not possibly be working as intended. Please investigate.
