4K resolution black screen

Okay so I played a ranked game with my buddy who just got a new computer capable of pushing 4K and he was using a 4K monitor with his graphics set to display in 4K. So seeing as how League of Legends does not support 4K, nor does it have the capability to change resolution from the launcher, nor does it automatically downscale, he had to spend 14 mins of our ranked game trying to change the resolution, only to realize he had to close out of everything and change the graphics output to 1080p. It was a promo game and ordinarily I wouldn't post to the forums about anything, but that was a bit ridiculous seeing as how 4K is not exactly a new thing and is much more commonplace. Has anyone else had to deal with this and my question to Rito is: any plans on a fix for this issue?

Thank you, Kosplaygamer

I had exactly the same problem. There's an additional point though. I've had a 4K monitor for over a year now, and I've been playing LOL for several months without a problem on 4K resolution. However last night, after doing a Windows update, I had the screen go black at the load in screen as you describe. I had to hook up an old monitor that automatically set the resolution to a lower level to fix the problem and then reconnected the 4K monitor and set the resolution just below the 4K (using the in game resolution setting in LOL, not the display resolution setting of the computer). That fixed it. It's weird that I was able to play on 4K all along until only very recently.
