[GAMEPLAY] Riven's Q With 100% Consistency Fails to Deal Damage

Riven's Q typically targets the centre of whatever target you mouse over when you issue the Q. However, if the target is moving, it will instead target an area a significant distance in front of where the target is facing. This distance is large enough so that when close enough to a target, that is facing her general direction, Riven's Q will instead direct itself away from the target, completely missing and dealing no damage although you specifically aimed it at that target.

Simplest method of reproduction:

  1. Spawn a target dummy in the practice tool.
  2. Use Riven's 3rd Broken Wings cast to knock the target up, causing it to be in a moving state.
  3. Use Q once again while the target dummy is in motion (this requires the usage of the refresh cooldowns feature)
  4. You will notice that every single time, regardless of what direction the dummy is facing or how close you are, the Q while the dummy is moving will instead target in front of where the dummy is facing instead of the dummy itself.
  5. If you are close enough and the dummy is relatively facing your direction your Q will miss.

Footage demonstrating this simple reproduction Footage demonstrating it's consistency Footage of it happening with CS Footage demonstrating how Riven's Q directs itself to lead where the target is moving

I could post a hundred clips of this and demonstrate it a hundred more times.

This happens every single time these conditions are met without fail and these conditions are met frequently against CS, champions, neutral monsters like scuttle crab, any unit that may be moving while facing somewhat towards you. You can imagine this bug plagues close range matchups such as Jax, Shen, Darius, Tryndamere. Most melee champions in the game will fight you within this range and be moving while doing so. Here is the best example, fighting a Jax. Watch how both Q's completely miss Jax as they are instead targeting an area away from Jax, where he is facing. That was a fight Riven should have won. This bug has been in the game for years yet only recently we have discovered it's simple cause. The nature by which Riven's Q will attempt to lead a target that is moving is causing this issue and is unnecessary in the first place.

EDIT: I understand a lot of you may not like playing against Riven as a champion or consider her too strong, I would encourage you to ignore those feelings and be objective in understanding that this is an error in function and should be resolved. Even considering that, it is in your best interests for this bug to be fixed as this bug doesn't affect gold 4 players who don't have hands, making Riven much stronger in your elo. Fixing this bug would allow Riot to address the strength of Riven more accurately and perhaps even lead to a nerf.

Hey this means that Riven won't be played for a while! Stress levels will be at an all time low across the boards!

This bug can just turn the game entirely around. i have had so many instances where my Q goes where it pleases which results in instead of me getting a kill, just dying and then getting snowballed on

if they could make this 100% consistent it'd be a good nerf

Ah, finally, a reasonable nerf.

They should probably get to fixing that asap.
