CLIENT WON'T OPEN (on Mac)

when I try to open the client it starts to open (the emblem bounces in the toolbar) it then just disappears and I can try again. at one point I could fix it by restarting my computer, but that no longer works and the client won't open at all.(using alpha)computer is imac (running yosemite 10.10.5)
