[Client] Geddan Graphic Glitch (Possibly a Problem with my Graphics Card?)
Hey, so I'm loving how the new client looks, but I'm running into a strange graphics glitch. After I go into game select, something that I like to call "Geddan Graphics," after that ancient Golden Eye cartridge tilt video. What it looks like (to me, though I'm no expert) is that various placeholder objects in the client will begin to flash black on the screen. They start as small bars at first, but become progressively larger as time goes on. They persist even if I queue up or return to the lobby.
I'm thinking that it might have something to do with my graphics card, which is an NVIDIA GeForce 940M. In addition, I'm using and acer Aspire E 15 running on Windows 8 and an Intel Core i5-5200 processor.
I will include video of the bug if needed and if OBS actually decides to cooperate with me this time
Thanks for the help. :)
EDIT:
Alright, so I figured it out.
It seems to be interference between the Intel core processor and the NVIDIA graphics card.
I found this out while I was attempting to use OBS to do a monitor capture. Now, when I usually try this, I get a completely black preview screen. I was looking for a way to resolve this and found a solution that involved disabling the Intel video adapter through the device manager. Now, this can really bring down your fps, but it does resolve the issue. However, when I finally tried to record the phenomena properly, the glitch did not occur. And this is the very first time that I wasn't able to recreate, leading me to strongly believe that it is related to the problem that prevents OBS from working properly.
While this will solve the problem, I do not think that this is a sufficient fix for this issue, as it will probably decrease PC performance significantly after you disable the adapter. Graphics cards with very little VRAM (mine has only 2GB) will be impacted more by this than others. For this reason, I implore Riot staff to please attempt something to fix this. I imagine that it will not be easy, but it will greatly improve the experience of those experiencing this issue.
Still, I will be creating a step by step guide to disabling the display adapter if they want to try it. Also, I will record a video from my cellphone to document the glitch, so that anyone unsure if they are experiencing the same problem can properly identify it.
Also, upvotes to make Rioters aware of this issue would be greatly appreciated. :)
EDIT:
Here is the video
And here is how to disable the display adapter (at least for users of Windows 8)
