Ekko 4 second after image solid and visible?

Is Ekko's after image supposed to be solid and visible? When I first saw it I and a few others on stream thought it was a bug if anybody could clarify if it is supposed to be solid and visible or if its supposed to look ethereal looking. I would greatly appreciate it. Also if the champ is out of sight is the after image also out of sight or will it always give his position away, because I have seen that happen also.
